We have for sale an Antique Apothecary Cork Press
Absolutely 1800s Apothecary Cork Press. Made of cast iron with large wood handle, has two sizes of cork compress areas ¾” and ½”. This would have been used in an area bottling larger bottles requiring larger corks.
Cork Presses were used throughout the 1800s and early 1900s you would have found them in Pharmacy’s and Drug stores across America.
You lift the handle and place a moistened cork into the press by pushing the handle down the cork would compress to the size bottle you needed it to fit.
Circa, 1880-1900
Measures, 15” long, 3 ¼” wide.
Condition, vintage used condition, does have broken hinge area as shown in pictures, hinge does work.
