Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale an Antique Cork Roller Press sold by Elmer & Amend New York, NY.
Late 1800s apothecary piece. This is a hand operated cork roller for compressing corks to fit into medicine bottles. You lift the handle and place a cork into the roller by pushing the handle down the cork would compress to the size bottle you needed it to fit. This would have been found in Pharmacy’s and Drug stores across America in late 1800s. Made of cast iron.
The condition of this roller is wonderful with its original paint it is a piece of art from a time long past.
This roller was made by the Enterprise Manufacturing Company of Philadelphia for the Elmer & Amend Company of New York, NY.
Elmer & Amend were the country's leading importer of drugs and chemicals. In 1874 they added laboratory supplies to their inventory. We have added a picture of a page from Elmer & Amend catalog from 1892 showing the Cork Roller. (Picture and corks not included in sale).
