We have for sale Three Vintage Sock Darners with Handles.
Wonderful sewing notions, they could be a very pretty and instant collection for primitive, rustic, or country home decor. It appears these three sweet old surviving sewing primitives have always been together.
These three are in very good structural condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. The glass one has no discoloration, chips, or cracks. The flatter-shaped wooden one is marked FOOT-FORM PATENTED. Both wooden eggs have a wonderful, aged patina. Please see all photographs as they are part of the description.
Great collectible or gift for the seamstress or tailor, and practical and handy as well! Back in the day, a sock darner could always be found in grandmas sewing basket. There always used to be a steady supply of darning repairs needed in the family mending bag. A woman sitting darning was a common sight, and so was a darning egg. Could anyone imagine 100 years ago that darning tools would now be unrecognizable except to antique or craft enthusiasts?
