We have for sale An Antique Kitchen Water Pump, Smart No. 21 Blue Bird Pump.
Wonderful 1920s Blue Bird No.21 kitchen style water pump.
Made by James Smart Manufacturing Co. of Brockville Canada. They manufactured high-end cast-Iron cookware as well as other items such as this beautiful cast iron water pump. Marked Pat, Pending RD 1925, this means it is a pre patent model and the patent was registered in 1925.
The handle is designed to be on the back or side of the spout by loosening the nuts and pivoting the top of the pump.
The pump has wonderful green paint with gold painted raised lettering which on top reading No.21 Blue Bird, down the handle Smart Brockville Canada and at the base Pat. Pend. R.D. 1925. Made of cast iron with the center brass pipe, the spout has two notches on top one on each side this is to hold a bucket in place while pumping water. There has been a welding repair on the pump handle bracket it has been painted over with matching green paint, it adds to the pumps charm. The hole running through the center of the pump is open, this would make turning it into a water fountain very easy.
