Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale an Antique 1873 English Tangent Signet, Single Lever Corkscrew.
This is a special one a Wolverson’s single lever handle paired with a Wolverson’s steel pull corkscrew (THE LEVER SIGNET).
The Tangent Lever was patented in 1873 and the Lever Signet was patented in 1876 both registered designs by Edwin Wolverson. Although patented and designed at different dates these were most likely sold as a set in or after 1876. The Lever Signet was designed to be use with or independently of the Lever; alone it would be considered a three-finger pull. The finish is a bronze-wash common in the mid to late 1800s, this set has about 60% of the bronze-wash remaining, which is considered very good.
The screw is marked THE LEVER SIGNET on one side and a image of a fish on the other, it is made of steel.
The Lever in made of steel with brass hinges.
English Registration # 5,500, Dated November 4, 1873
Circa, 1873 & 1876
Measures, lever 7.25” long, screw 4.75” long
Condition, very good for age, please see all pictures.
