Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale a charming vintage Singer 221 portable featherweight sewing machine and carrying case. Serial # AH801305. The machine badge was issued on October 1, 1948 and the machine was manufactured in Elizabethtown, New Jersey. It has an original 110-volt motor and beautiful chrome trim. The machine and attachments are in very good vintage condition. We’ve had several machines in the last few years and this one purrs.
This is a very nice machine finished in that classic deep gorgeous shiny black featherweight paint, gold decals and chrome trim that shows almost no wear. We have thoroughly cleaned, oiled and tested so it is ready to sew right out of the box. When cleaning and testing we always look for worn parts and replace as needed, on this machine we have replaced the electrical card with a new UL Listed cord.
The overall condition of this machine is incredibly good with normal wear. The machine shows minor scuffs and scratches on the sewing bed from use. The base of the machine has paint chips along the bottom edge. The leather covered case is very solid with light wear corners show leather loss, the handle is in wonderful condition, case is missing upper tray (we have adjusted the price to reflect tray missing). Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
Our shipping charge includes meticulous packing to ensure no damage occurs during transit. Every shipment we have done has arrived undamaged even as far away as Alaska.
The I. M. Singer and Company began making sewing machines in 1851. In 1933, the company debuted the ‘featherweight’ machine at the Chicago World’s Fair. During WWII, the companies factories were retooled to support war related machinery needs. In 1945, when they changed back to manufacturing sewing machines, the featherweight was their most popular and reliable brand. The Singer featherweight has long been a cherished machine for quilting and sewing due to its precise sewing capability and easy portability.
