We have for sale Two vintage Cow Bells.
These both have that classic strong cow bell sound reminding us of a time when Bessie had to be milked morning and night. Now they are used for home décor, door alerts or dinner bells. There are no cracks or missing metal. Both have a wonderful patina.
The smaller bell is an unmarked brass Blum cowbell with its distinctive 3 corner fold at the top of the bell, rolled shape and interior configuration. These were made in Collinsville, IL for 3 Blum family generations until 1956 when the business closed. They shipped worldwide and produced up to 1,000 bells a day. The Mississippi Library District has a wonderful article on the history of Blum bells.
These size bell could be used on Calf’s, Goats, smaller farm animals.
Circa: consistent with 1920s – 1950s
Measures: #1 (the Blum bell): 3 1/4” high x 2 ½” wide x 1 ¾” deep.
#2: 3 ½” high (without strap) x 3” wide x 2” deep.
