We have for sale a Vintage 1940s Griswold Cast Iron Wall Hanging Mailbox
Wonderful find this beautiful cast iron mailbox made by the Griswold. Yes, the same company that made all the wonderful cast iron pans and cookware. This mailbox is marked under the lid Griswold Erie PA. We found this lovely with its original gray paint we usually find them with 10 coats of house paint on them, so this was a treat. The lid on this version was designed with a slot for a name plate. Lid is also designed for a padlock and the lid has a flap on the top for the postal person to deposit letters. The front viewing hole allows you to see in the box without opening it. The box also has a couple other number in places throughout these are mold numbers added to parts for manufacturing.
You can easily spray-paint these any color you wish to match your house colors. Please not if you are looking for a mailbox to use these will hold mail and small envelops but larger items will not fit.

Marked; Griswold Erie PA
Measures; overall outside 13 ½” tall, 5 ¾” wide, Inside approximately 9 ½” tall 4 ¼” wide.
Condition; Very good with normal wear, light surface rust on paint as show in pictures.
