We have for sale an Antique 1880s James Heeley & Sons A1 Double Lever Corkscrew
Wonderful Bronze-Washed version of James Heeley & Son’s 1888 A1 Double Lever Corkscrew. This Heeley corkscrew has the short hinge machined in one piece and is the earliest version of the A1, it is made of steel and finished in a bronze-washed plating, the worm (corkscrew) is known as a wire helix it is fashioned from one piece of twisted wire designed like a helix.
Patented in 1888 by James Heeley of Birmingham England his corkscrew manufacturing business became one of the most productive producers worldwide. The Heeley family started doing business at the turn of the century 1800 last know record of the family corkscrew business was in the 1940s
It will make the most amazing conversation piece at your wine bar as you explain it is nearly 130 years old and made in England. It is one of the first designs of a double lever (two handle design) corkscrew and is in full working condition.

Measures, 6 ½” tall, 11” wide with arms open
Condition, Very good for age, nice straight worm, some of the bronze-washed finish remaining
Note,
The Bronze-washed plating was a very common type of plating in England during the latter part of the 1800s this corkscrew still shows a wonderful amount of the plating which is a very unusual find, normally the plating is gone.
