History:
Why a round bottom? Story has it that the manufactures of ginger ale were using flat bottom bottles to sale their ale. The label on the bottle said store the bottle on there sides so the cork that sealed the bottle would not dry out causing the ale to go bad. But the mercantile store owners would not store the bottle on their sides because it took up too much shelf space which lead to the corks drying out and spoiling the ale. Hence the round bottom bottles these could not be stood on end.
