Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale a charming vintage Singer 221-1 portable featherweight sewing machine and carrying case. Serial # AL729129. The machine badge was issued on April 22, 1954 and was manufactured in Elizabethsport, NJ, USA. It has an original 110-volt motor and beautiful chrome trim. The machine, instruction book and attachments are in excellent vintage condition. We’ve had several machines in the last few years and this one purrs.
This is a very nice machine finished in that classic deep gorgeous shiny black featherweight paint, gold decals and chrome trim that shows minimal wear.
We have cleaned, oiled and greased the machine. After cleaning greasing and oiling the machine we properly test the machine to make sure it runs and operates as intended. The case is poor condition, it has tape on bottom where it is badly worn.
Our shipping charge includes meticulous packing to ensure no damage occurs during transit. Every shipment we have done has arrived undamaged.
The I. M. Singer and Company began making sewing machines in 1851. In 1933, the company debuted the ‘featherweight’ machine at the Chicago World’s Fair. During WWII, the company’s factories were retooled to support war related machinery needs. In 1945, when they changed back to manufacturing sewing machines, the featherweight was their most popular and reliable brand. The Singer featherweight has long been a cherished machine for quilting and sewing due to its precise sewing capability and easy portability.
