We have for sale a Antique German 1890s Salt Pig Box Crock with Hinged Wooden Lid.
Wonderful antique salt pig box crock with hinged wooden lid made in Germany It is white has the word "Salt" printed in a cursive black font on the front. It is designed to be mounted on the wall, and would look beautiful in kitchens of various styles (craftsman, farm style, Nordic or industrial) Especially desirable as it is plain white to color compliment any kitchen and doesn’t have the more common blue designs on it.

The crock and wood top are both in good vintage condition with wear and flaws consistent with age. The hinges are fully functional but have become a bit corroded over time due to the corrosive nature of salt. Please see all photographs as they are part of the description.


Era: unknown but consistent with late 1800s when the 1890 Tarrif Act first required country of origin marks particularly from Germany
Marked: Front: Salt. Bottom: Germany
Measures: 6” diameter by 5 5/8” (including hanging tab)
Condition: good vintage condition with some color variations consistent with age. Wood top has two small chips
