We have for sale an Antique 1870s Erie #10 Cast Iron Muffin Pan
Wonderful 1870s Cast Iron muffin pan made by Griswold Manufacturing Company this was one of the early versions of this pan made by Griswold in the 1870s and only marked EIRE #10, and the casting # 948. Over the years there were 15 variations on the style of this pan one would be adding the name of Griswold to the base. Pan consists of 11 tapered-sided flat bottomed round cups, arranged 4-3-4, with cut-outs around the cups.
We have lightly clean and oiled the cast iron with food safe oil to prevent surface rust from forming.

Measures; 11.5” x 7.625” x 1.75”
Condition; Very good no breaks or cracks, needs a good cleaning. Please see all pictures.

History;
The company was founded in 1865 under the name Seldon-Griswold Manufacturing Company. Matthew Griswold and his cousins Samuel and J.C. Seldon started the company in Erie, Pennsylvania near the Erie Canal. At this time, the company made light hardware, such as butt hinges, stove dampers, and other stove accessories. In the 1870s, the company expanded its product line to include cast iron cookware. Pieces from this early are some of the finest and most collectable. These can be identified by the company logo: “ERIE” stamped onto the underside of these pans. These pans are thinner and lighter than later pieces made by the company.
