We have for sale a Vintage Oak Weis Dovetailed Wood Recipe Box Full of Hand Written Recipes. Monroe, Mich USA
Charming vintage dovetailed oak hinged recipe box about half full of recipes is from Minnesota and has wonderful recipes. One of the most unusual recipes is a mimeographed copy a “baking lesson” from May 3, 1926 from The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company Home Service Department.
The box and papers inside have wonderful patina but the age is unknown. The front is marked Weis Monroe MICH USA. The post office started using 2 letter state abbreviations in 1963 so it is presumed to be 1950s or early 1960s. The recipes are a mixture of clippings, handwritten cards and food company booklets.
Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. Box does show minor scuffs but no cracks or chips visible.
