Vintage German Railroad Lantern, J Kampschulte & Co.
Wonderful find, this German made railroad Carbide lantern made by the J. Kampschulte & Co of Osnabrucker Metallwerke of Osnabruck Germany and used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn Railway Company.
The lantern is handheld or has a mounting bracket to attach to a fence or post. Has a clear glass front lens a right-side red glass lens and a left-side teal/green glass lens, the side lenes have a spring-loaded latching door to close off the light from either side if needed. The carbide burner is accessible through backside of the lantern and easily pulls out for fueling.
Lantern is marked on the top (J Kampschulte & Co, Osnabrucker Metallwerke, Osnabruck) and on the back DB for the Deutsche Bundesbahn Railway also marked on the bottom of the carbide tank DB 1963.
** The green glass typically looks like an aqua or teal color in natural light but will shine a signal green color when illuminated by a yellow flame.

Measures, 8 ½” tall with handle down, 4 ½” wide, 4” in depth
Condition, paint lose throughout, red glass has a crack
