19th Century Powder Flask by American Flask & Cap Company, Civil War Era
Exquisite find, this Civil War Era black powder flask made by American Flask & Cap Company of Waterbury, Connecticut.
Made of Copper and Brass, the flask has screw-off brass Graduated Charger with four drams settings 2, 2¼, 2½, 2¾ and marked (Patent). The copper case has a fluted design with two strap hanging loops.
Overall condition is very good, case has a couple dings (shown in pictures), the charger thumb spring is strong and works easily, the graduated setting for the drams moves freely, missing lock pin on dram adjustment.
Flask is as found in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

History,
The American Flask and Cap Company was a gunpowder flask manufacturer that operated from 1857 to 1865.

2 to 2-1/2 drams .58 caliber
2-1/2 drams - 20 gauge
2-3/4 drams - 16 gauge

Circa, 1850-60s
Marked, Patent.
Measures, 9” long, 4” width on case.
Condition, very nice condition, needs solder repair at base of case.
