Antique 1920s, Miners Carbide lantern,
This is the Dew-R-Lite brass hand lantern, manufactured by the Dewar Manufacturing Company of Brooklyn, New York.
This brass lantern can be handheld or hung on a beam in the mines with the large handing hook atop the upper handle.
Lantern is all original and has a patent date on the bottom November 2-1926.
Condition is used (it was used in a coal mine) and has dents dings and scuffs; it is perfect for display.

History,
Dewar produced carbide mining lamps from around 1914 until it was purchased by the Wolf Safety Lamp Co. in the late 1930's. Dewar was well known for its “I-T-P” (Its Trouble Proof), Sun Ray, and Dew-R-Lite lantern brands.

Circa, 1926
Measures, 10” tall with hook handle down, 15” tall top of hook to bottom of lantern, 3¼” diameter at base, reflector is 3½” diameter.
