Handlan Caboose Lantern for the Pennsylvania Railroad, PRR
Wonderful find, this kerosene Railroad Lantern made by the Handlan Manufacturing Company of St. Louis, Missouri. and made for the and used by the Pennsylvania Railroad.
This is single lens Caboose Lantern which would have been attached to the end of the Caboose to warn oncoming trains.
The lantern is all original including the fuel tank and burner with wick. The red glass lens measures 5½” in diameter. Lantern is marked on top of lid with the PRR logo and initials. Also marked with the Hanlan name on lid, fuel tank is marked Dressel.
Marked, PRR, Handlan St. Louis.
Circa, 1950-60s
Measures, 14½” tall with handle down, 6¾” diameter at base.
Condition, original paint has scuffs and chips, and the lens is good no chips or cracks. Lantern has been cleaned.
