Antique RARE 1917 Red Wing Five Gallon Butter Churn,4-inch Wing
Antique Red Wing Union Stoneware Company Five Gallon Butter Churn Crock with 4” Red Wing Pottery Logo.
Wonderful Butter Churn Crock and the perfect size for display in your kitchen or home.
It is an original Red Wing churn made by the Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing Minnesota. The churn is labeled with a cobalt blue number 5 and cobalt blue oval at the base, this designed oval was only used for a short period of time in 1917. The churn also has the lovely Red Wing stamp in the middle, this is known as the 4-inch Red Wing logo.
The Churn does have its original lid, and wood churning stick.

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches wide, and then to the more common 2-inch-wide logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced.

Circa, Early 1917
Measures, 17¼” tall with lid, 10½” diameter, wood churn is 41½” long. Weighs 22.5 pounds.
Condition, wonderful condition and very clean, very solid, normal manufacturing blemishes. One chip on the inside of rim (as shown in pictures).
