Antique 1800s English Henshall Style Button Corkscrew
This is an extremely beautiful mid to late 1800s English Henshall style corkscrew with wonderful turned rosewood handle over the matched turned brass shank followed by the wire helix (corkscrew). The button or also known as an Easer just above the helix helps release the cork from the bottle, once the worm (corkscrew) is turned into the cork and the button touches the cork you give it a couple more turns and the button twist the cork releasing the seal between the cork and bottle making it much easier to remove the cork.
Features on this corkscrew, other than its absolute beauty.
The Horsehair dusting brush is at the end of the handle. Once you retrieved the bottle from the cellar (in the 1800s) you would have used to brush the clean the label and cork before opening.
We stated that this is a Henshall style Button corkscrew, Samual Henshall designed and patented this Button August 24, 1795, with the English patent No. 2061.

Measures, 5½” tall, 4¼” wide at handle.
Condition, amazing wire helix (corkscrew) has a slight bend, not very noticeable. Wood handle has a couple small chips at end, original brush was most likely replaced at some point.
