Antique English Dog Tooth Corkscrew with Horsehair Dusting Brush.
Wonderful find this Mid-Century English Corkscrew.
This one has a few notable extras,
The Horsehair dusting brush is at the end of the handle. Once you retrieved the bottle from the cellar (in the 1800s) you would have used the brush to clean the label and cork before opening.
The Dogs’ tooth gripper, the four spike looking item just above the corkscrew. These are designed to grab the top of the cork and twisting it to releasing the hold on the bottle allowing you to pull the cork with ease.
This is a very collectible corkscrew, which we were very lucky to secure from a well-known collector.
Circa, 1870s
Marked: None
Measures: 6” long, 5” wide at handle.
Condition, very good condition for age, a little loose at handle, some discoloration on the metal and a couple minor chips on the end of the wood handle.
