Wonderful U.S. Cavalry Spurs made by August Buermann.
August Buermann is one of the most well-known American spur makers, who started making spurs during the Civil War and started his own company in 1866.
These spurs were most likely issued after WWI, they are made of Nickle-Plated Brass and stamped inside both spurs with (Star Steel Silver) a Buermann trademark. The spurs are blunt end military spurs, with a 1” shank and the heel bands have a 3½” spread, these also have leather strap, & buckles.
Overall condition, spurs have light scuffs throughout and leather straps are worn and cracking.
Circa, pre-1926.
History,
August Buermann immigrated to the US from Germany in 1864 and enlisted with the US Army. He fought in the Civil War, in 1866 Buermann purchased a company and started making his own spurs. In 1926, North and Judd Tack Company bought the Buermann company.
