Antique August Buermann Star Steel Silver Cavalry Spurs
Wonderful WWI, U.S. Cavalry spurs made by August Buermann.
August Buermann is one of the most well-known American spurs makers, who started making spurs during the Civil War and started his own company in 1866.
The spurs are marked (Star Steel Silver with the Star logo) on the inside of the heel-band. The straps are marked on the buckles Star Brand with the Star Logo.
The spurs are blunt end military spurs / equestrian style with a ¾” shank and the heel-bands have a spread of 3”.
History,
August Buermann immigrated to the US from Germany in 1864 and enlisted with the US Army. He fought in the Civil War, in 1866 Buermann purchased a company and started making his own spurs. In 1926, North and Judd Tack Company bought the Buermann company.
