1940s Dietz Vesta Railroad Lantern, N.Y.C.S, New York Central Railroad
Wonderful Railroad Lantern made by the Dietz Lantern Company New York NY. The lantern was made for the New York Central Railroad.
The lantern is marked with N.Y.C.S on the rim of the hood and etched in the glass. Has a patent date S-12-43 meaning it was manufactured at Syracuse NY Plant in December 1943.

History,
The New York Central Railroad was a railroad primarily operating in the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
Was in operation from 1853 to 1968.

Marked, N.Y.C.S.
Measures, 9 3/4” tall with handle down, 6 ¼” diameter at base.
Condition, heavy patina, some surface rust, globe is in wonderful condition, no wick.
