Wonderful early version Red Wing made by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. of Red Wing Minnesota. This is known as a 4-gallon Red Wing with 4” Wing with a Red Wing Union Oval which was approximately the third design of the Oval which came out around 1915.+
The Elusive Red Wing 4-gallon crock with a 4-inch wing seems to be one of the harder sizes to find.

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches, and then to the more common 2-inch logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced. This is the 3rd oval design which was only used for a few short years between 1915-1918.
With the combination of the 4-inch wing and the 3rd Oval this crock dates between 1915-1918.

Measurements, 12” tall, 12” diameter at top rim, weighs 18.2 pounds.
Condition, very good for age, has a couple chips in inside of rim. Has a glazing fracture on the backside which looks like an X this is not a crack in the crock only in the glazing.
