Antique Red Wing Union Stoneware Company 2-Gallon Crock and Lid, 4” Red Wing Pottery Logo
This is a special crock; the Blue Oval below the Red Wing was the first Oval used by Red Wing after they merged with Union Pottery. This oval and the 4-inch Red Wing help date it to between 1906-1909.
Special treat finding the lid with this crock was a collector's dream. The Red Wing Lids are designed with a flower pattern and the crock size number, you will notice the glazing on the lids is only on the center and the outer edge, and no glazing on about a 1" ring in the center (depending on crock size).
*The Lid, has a void / glazing crack on the edge were the glazing stops, this is not damage it is a manufacturing blemish (shown in pictures)
*The Crock, wonderful, has a couple minor tiny chips on the inside of rim (shown in pictures), also has the normal manufacturing blemishes. The spot to the right of the number 2 is a blemish, no glazing.
We consider the 2-gallon crock the perfect size for display in your kitchen.

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches wide, and then to the more common 2-inch-wide logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced.

Measurements, 11” tall with lid, 10” diameter at top rim, weighs 12.3 pounds.
