Antique 1893, Hamm’s Beer Corkscrew, Beer Bottle Opener, Breweriana.
Wonderful find this beer bottle opener from 1893 made by the Edwin Walker Company. The corkscrew has advertisement for the Hamm’s Brewery of St. Paul Minnesota.
The corkscrew is known as a self-pull corkscrew patented by Edwin Walker on July 25, 1893. The wood handle is stamped Walkers Self Puller Pat. July 25, 93.
Overall condition is very good with clear graphics on both sides of handle, the steel shaft and bell are nickle-plated and show loss of planting.

History,
The bottle cap wasn’t invented until the 1892 by the Crown Cork Co. of Baltimore MD. Before the cap was introduced most all bottles had corks including beer bottles.
The bottle cap was not widely used until into the 20th Century.

Measures, 5¼” tall, 3½” wide at handle.
Marked, Hamm’s Brewery of St. Paul Minn.
