Antique Blackthorn Cane, Silver Capped Blackthorn Wood Cane, Walking Stick.
Wonderful find, this turn of the century antique cane made of Blackthorn wood and embellished with a silver cap at the handle end and a brass ground tip. The silver cap is monogrammed with the letter ACB.
History,
Blackthorn Wood is a large bush that grows in the British Isles. Blackthorn is a very resilient wood that is naturally resistant to warping and used to make canes and walking sticks.
Circa, 1890 – 1900
Measures 34 ¾” long.
Condition, solid no spits or cracks in wood, finish worn on wood. Silver cap shows scuffs and small dings, missing one silver strap cap (as shown in pictures), brass tip has dents and dings from use.
