Victorian Era Miniature Corkscrew Bow Style Perfume & Medicine Bottle Corkscrew.
Wonderful Victorian Period miniature corkscrew. This is a real fully functional corkscrew designed to remove corks from perfume & medicine bottles in the Victorian Period known as a Bow corkscrew. Made of steel with a Ornate designed bow / handle and the worm (corkscrew) is known as a Bladed worm (it is designed with a sharp outer edge, which allows it to cut through the cork with easy) the worm folds out and the loop, which becomes a finger pull.
You would have most commonly found these attached to a Chatelaine which the household management and domestic servants and nannies would have had for opening perfumes, medicines and household items with small corks.
Circa, 1860-1900
Measures, 2 1/4” long closed, 3 7/8” long open, 1 1/2" wide at handle.
Condition, very good for age, strong spring.
