Wonderful antique wooden snow sled made in Davos Switzerland.
This is an original Davos Sledge made from Ash hardwood with metal runners and center support.
his will look wonderful on your front porch this Christmas with fresh garland.
History,
The Davos sledge started in the 19th century, named for the first toboggan race in 1883, in Davos Switzerland, the Davos sled was designed to be ridden in an upright position, using the feet to control the sled.
These were made starting in the 1880s and had a huge resurgence in the 1970s.
Circa, 1900
Marked, Davos
Measures, 40” long, 13 ½” wide at runners, 9 ½” in height.
Condition weathered and old, may have had center seat rail replaced at some point.
