Antique 1909 Red Wing Union Stoneware Five Gallon Crock 6-inch Red Wing Logo
Wonderful early version Red Wing made by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. of Red Wing Minnesota. This is known as a 5-gallon Red Wing with 6” Wing with a number 7 Oval.

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches, and then to the more common 2-inch logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced. This is the second design of the oval which was used approximately between 1909 and 1915
With the combination of the 6-inch wing and the second logo this crock dates between the 1909 and 1915.
This crock is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks, does has the normal manufacturing blemishes and some fun bubbles which were formed from air trapped in the clay and when heated the air expanded causing the bubbles in the finish.

Marked, Red Wing Union Stoneware Company – Red Wing Minn.
Measurements, 13” tall, 12½” diameter at top rim, weighs 20.5 pounds.
Condition, very clean condition as described above.
