We have for sale an Antique 1880 North Brothers Fluting Iron
Wonderful 1880s Hand Roller Fluting Iron made by the North Brother MFG Co. of Philadelphia PA.
This is a hand operated flutter for applying pleats to clothing, cuffs and collars. It is made of cast iron base with a stainless-steel pleating plate and the roller is made of cast iron handle and a stainless-steel pleating roller. Inside the base is a cast iron heating plate (these are usually missing) these would have been placed on the stove and heated and then set in the flutter base to heat the pleating plate, the heating plate has square holes in it, these are for picking it up when hot, the handle on the roller has a hook designed to insert into the heat plate to pick up.
Overall condition is very good, with no damage, we have cleaned and oiled the metal.

Dimensions, base-5 ¾” x 3 ½” x 1 ½” roller-6 ¼” x 3 ¼”.
Condition, very clean no chips or cracks.
