We have for sale an Antique 1898, Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine with Case.
This is one of the first portable electric sewing machines produced in the United States, made by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company New York N.Y. Willcox and Gibbs started manufacturing sewing machines in the late 1850s. This design machine was produced as a Hand Crack Machine, Treadle Foot Pump Machine, and an Electric Machine. This is a single thread machine that produces a chain stitch.
We have thoroughly cleaned and serviced this machine it runs exceptionally smooth. We have tested the machine and it sews like a dream.
The condition of this machine is extremely good and very clean, appears to not have been used very much. The case is also in exceptionally nice condition. There is a little wear on the machine paint in spots (it is 124 years old).
Comes with the original owner’s manual, with full direction for using the machine.
Serial number A658497, this machine was made in approximately 1898.

**You may have noticed we have just relisted this machine. We have just located an original foot peddle for this style machine, which was a huge treat, the peddle is in remarkable condition and works smoothly. The peddle is made of a cast iron housing which added 4 more pounds to the original listing.
