Antique 1888 James Heeley, A1 Double Lever Corkscrew
Wonderful Bronze-Washed version of James Heeley & Son’s 1888 A1 Double Lever Corkscrew. It is made of steel and finished in a bronze-washed plating, the worm (corkscrew) is known as a wire helix it is fashioned from one piece of twisted wire designed like a helix.
The Bronze-washed plating was a common type of plating in England during the latter part of the 1800s.
Patented in 1888 by James Heeley of Birmingham England his corkscrew manufacturing business became one of the most productive producers worldwide. The Heeley family started doing business at the turn of the century 1800 last known record of the family corkscrew business was in the 1940s
It will make the most amazing conversation piece at your wine bar as you explain it is nearly 130 years old and made in England. It is one of the first designs of a double lever (two handle design) corkscrew and is in full working condition.

Measures, 6 ½” tall, 11” wide with arms open
Condition, Very good for age, nice straight worm, some of the bronze-washed finish remaining.
