1930s Lallie Surveyors Transit, Surveying Instrument

We have for sale a Lallie Surveyors Transit
Wonderful Mining Transit made and sold by the Lallie Instrument Company of Denver Colorado. This is a smaller transit very light weight and portable, it is in its original wood case. Inside the case is a business card glued to the lid for the Lallie Instrument Company with their phone number (MAin 1383) this type of phone number was used starting in the early 1930s.
The transit has a top bubble level and a lower bubble level, both in very good condition. The eye piece is telescoping and has a control knob on the side of the scope. The pivot adjustments and locks all work properly. Case and transit are both marked, Lallie Instrument Company of Denver Colorado.
We have cleaned and tested this beautiful transit, it is very clear and ready to use or display.


History,
John S. J. Lallie (1856 - 1911) Immigrated from France in 1864 and settled in Denver Colorado. He was a railroad surveyor, a mining engineer, and a commissioned U. S. Mineral Surveyor. Beginning in 1888 he made transits, levels, and surveyor's compasses. He died January 25, 1911. in Denver, Colorado, the making of these instruments was discontinued in 1938.

Condition, Very nice condition. case is weathered but sturdy.
