We have for sale a Pair of Forged Antique Crampons / Ice Cleats
Wonderful find this pair of forged wrought iron Crampons or Ice Cleats depending on what part of the country you are from.
These measure 6 ¼” long, 4 ¾” wide and would have fit a shoe sole 3” wide, that seems small, but people were much small years ago. The triangle rings on the sides would have had leather straps and buckles which would have fastened over your shoe or boot, these have long sense dried and been discarded.
These will make an amazing display item for your resort or cabin.

History,
As far back as the 1300s hunters were using crampons for gaining traction on the ice and snow, crampons evolved over the centuries this pair is from the early to mid-1800s, toward the late 1800s a two-piece crampon was invented but soon after boots with built-in nails / spikes were designed and crampons were sidelined for a few years.

Found in Northern Minnesota
Circa, 1800-1860s
Measures, 6 ¼” long, 4 ¾” wide
Condition: extremely good condition, with surface rust.
