Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale an Antique 1800s Tea Kettle
Wonderful piece of American history this beautiful copper tea kettle from the mid-1800s.
This Tea Kettle / Toddy Kettle was found with a receipt hidden inside from the previous owner dated 3/29/1962 the receipt is for their purchase of this kettle from an antique dealer in Bucks County Pennsylvania.
The Kettle is made of hand forged copper with interlaced / Cramp seams on the spout, back and base of kettle the lid has a crimp seam joining the lid with the inner ring / flange.
We mention the types of seams that were used on this kettle to help give a more accurate manufacture date. Cramp Seams which look very similar to Dovetail joints in woodworking were used up until around 1850 when the much easier Crimp Seam was introduced, both these types of seams were still hand forged until modern day machinery was developed.
The Kettle is designed with a decorative handle and the top round section is hollow to reduce the heat buildup in the handle, the lid is also very decorative with a rich bronze patina and brass finial knob. Has a #3 on the front section of the handle.
The overall condition is very nice with an all-natural patina, the kettle does have a couple dents and dings through-out but still a magnificent piece.
Found in, Greensboro, North Carolina.
Circa, 1840-1860
Markings, #3
Measures, 8” tall, 5” x 6” diameter at base,
Condition, very nice condition with only a couple dents and dings, has one tiny hole in the lid, calcium buildup inside the kettle.
