Vintage 1940s Syroco Old Codger Corkscrew, Wine Bottle Opener
Wonderful condition this full bodied Syroco Waiter corkscrew. I say full bodied because these were also offered without the body, (head and corkscrew only). These were offered in a painted version and a walnut stained version. This is a very early version of this corkscrew, early 18940s.
This is a Highly collectable mid-century barware item.
Made by the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) of Syracuse, New York they are made up of a composition of wood powder and thermoset resin set up in a compression mold, these were believed to have been made between 1940-1950.
The steel corkscrew and bell were supplied by Williamson Company of Newark, New Jersey. it has a self-pull corkscrew with cap lifter on bell.
