We have for sale an Antique Cast Iron Mailbox
Rare and Wonderful, this is a wall mount mailbox made by the Lasalle MFG. Co. Wyandotte Michigan. It is made of cast iron and formed steel, extremely solid and meant to last forever.
Has a hinged door to open and retrieve mail and a lid at the top covering a mail slot to insert mail, also has three holes in the back for attaching to house.
We have lightly cleaned a few decades of dust off this beautiful mailbox to reveal a matte black finish with only a couple small spots of surface rust (easily moveable).
Old mailboxes were designed to except letter and flyer not large packages.

History,
There just isn’t a lot of information about the Lasalle MFG. Company except they were in Wyandotte Michigan just south of Detroit. Wyandotte Michigan was a huge Steel Mill City with some of the largest foundries in America. We believe that the Lasalle MFG was a smaller foundry that was most likely bought out by one of the larger ones. Wyandotte Michigan is best known in the antique world for the (All Metal Products Company) who manufactured Wyandotte toys.

If you know someone that collects the Wyandotte toys, this Mailbox would be a must have.

Measures,
Outside - 12 ¾” tall, 7 ¼” wide, 3 ½” depth, weighs 8 ½ pounds.
Inside – 9 ½” tall, 6” wide, 1 ¾” depth.
Condition, excellent condition.
