Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale a charming vintage Singer 221-1 portable featherweight sewing machine and carrying case. Serial # AH427049. The machine badge was issued on January 22, 1948, and was manufactured in Elizabethsport, NJ, USA. It has an original 110-volt motor and beautiful chrome trim. The machine, case, instruction book and attachments are in very good vintage condition. We’ve had several machines in the last few years and this one purrs. The case is in good vintage condition showing wear consistent with age and use.
This is a very nice machine finished in that classic deep gorgeous shiny black featherweight paint, gold decals and chrome trim that shows almost no wear. The original foot pedal still makes the motor hum. The locking carrying case is also in very nice condition with original hardware, handle and a key. Please see all photos as they are part of the item’s description.
We have cleaned and serviced this machine and replaced any worn or faulty parts. New parts include, drive belt and electrical cord, new rubber cushion feet on machine and power foot peddle.
Our shipping charge includes meticulous packing to ensure no damage occurs during transit. Every shipment we have done has arrived undamaged even as far away as Alaska.
The I. M. Singer and Company began making sewing machines in 1851. In 1933, the company debuted the ‘featherweight’ machine at the Chicago World’s Fair. During WWII, the company’s factories were retooled to support war related machinery needs. In 1945, when they changed back to manufacturing sewing machines, the featherweight was their most popular and reliable brand. The Singer featherweight has long been a cherished machine for quilting and sewing due to its precise sewing capability and easy portability.
