Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale a charming vintage Singer 221-1 portable featherweight sewing machine and carrying case. Serial # AF746451. The machine badge was issued on January 7, 1941 and the machine was manufactured in Elizabethtown, NJ. It has an original 110-volt motor and beautiful chrome trim including the highly desired scrolled faceplate. The machine and attachments are in very good vintage condition. We’ve had several machines in the last few years and this one purrs. The lockable case is in good vintage condition showing wear consistent with age and use. Both original keys are included.
This is a very nice machine finished in that classic deep gorgeous shiny black featherweight paint, gold decals and chrome trim that shows minimal wear. The original foot pedal and electrical cord makes the motor hum. The carrying case is also in very nice condition with original hardware and handle. The attachments are in very good vintage condition. We have cleaned and serviced this machine and replaced any worn or faulty parts. Little side note on this machine, we found the original inspection ticket inside the case from 1941. All my years working and selling these machines I've never seen one of these.

The I. M. Singer and Company began making sewing machines in 1851. In 1933, the company debuted the ‘featherweight’ machine at the Chicago World’s Fair. During WWII, the companies’ factories were retooled to support war related machinery needs. In 1945, when they changed back to manufacturing sewing machines, the featherweight was their most popular and reliable brand. The Singer featherweight has long been a cherished machine for quilting and sewing due to its precise sewing capability and easy portability.
