Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale an Antique English Farrow & Jackson Style Brass Wing Nut Corkscrew. Beautiful brass corkscrew from the second half of the nineteenth century, it is considered a Two Pillar Open Frame Wing Nut.
This is a special one with a fluted worm (corkscrew). A fluted worm - the corkscrew has a groove cut along the backside which allows air to enter the bottle once the screw penetrates the cork when the air enters the bottle it releases the negative pressure which makes pulling the cork much easier.
To operate this corkscrew simply twist the fly nut to the very top of the threaded shaft, then use the fly nut to turn the corkscrew into the cork, once the screw stops turning rotate the fly nut counter clockwise, this will pull the cork from the bottle. Cheers
This is an unmarked Farrow & Jackson Style corkscrew, fully functional and ready to use or display. It is as found uncleaned.
This corkscrew can be found in Ferd Peters, Mechanical corkscrews book page 142.
