We have for sale a Pair of Antique Brass Doorbells
What a wonderful find this pair of hand crank brass doorbells from the Victorian Era. Made be Taylor and Patented Oct 23, 1860.
This pair is a front and a back door doorbells, front door has a brass crank handle with porcelain knob with a decorative style base, back door has a metal thumb screw knob and a more utilitarian style base. Both are made with brass bell and cast-iron base. The bells have two strikes inside which allows the handle to be turn in either direction to sound the bell. The sound of the bells is very loud and clear (perfect).

Condition, we have gently cleaned the brass to remove the first 100 years of dirt but left behind the wonderful patina, the cast-iron bases have paint on them this is most likely lead paint and should be removed. The back doorbell has had the original tension spring replaced at some point in its history and the knob may have been repaired, this does not affect its working condition or sound. Overall, both bells are in working condition and show light signs of age. They are perfect for someone restoring a Victoria home
